Welcome to the Georgetown Friends of the Library! The Georgetown Public Library is the thriving center of the Georgetown Divide. An essential part of our community, our library is much more than a book and media repository. Of course, library patrons can check out DVDs and board games, access WiFi, use computers, and browse the book shelves to their hearts' content. But we also have a wide variety of programs for children, teens, and adults, such as story times, readers’ and writers’ groups, arts and crafts workshops, special speakers, and summer activities for children. In addition, the Georgetown library offers vaccine clinics, nurse’s appointments, and distribution of food, clothing, and other essentials to the needy on the Georgetown Divide. We are a cooling center in the summer and a warming center in the winter. We host meals and tax assistance for seniors, and we provide access to free phones or tablets for those who qualify. Our library is truly a hub, a busy center of community life staffed by an extraordinary group of employees. The library thrives with critical assistance from the Friends of the Library organization, which raises much of the money necessary for the high-quality programs our library staff provides. Our membership is growing, and we welcome the participation of all of our patrons! In addition to joining or renewing your membership, please consider making an additional one-time or a Timeless donation to the Georgetown Friends at this link today! Timeless donations provide recurring contributions ensuring continuing funding to support our library. Choose the Monthly donation and enter an amount of your choosing. |
